Who Is a God Like Our God?
WHO IS A GOD LIKE OUR GOD?
Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. —Micah 7:18
The psalmist describes God as “merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy;” a God who “has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities” (Psalm 103:8,10). So great is His compassion that He told Ezekiel to pass on a message to the people. “Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?'” (Ezekiel 33:11).
***There is no God like our God.
Who is a god like our God, who is so merciful, so ready and willing to forgive our transgressions? Who is a god like our God, who guides us to the path of righteousness and throws our sins into the depths of the sea?
There is no god like our God. He is a Father to the fatherless. He is the conqueror of sin and death. He is the rock to whom we can run for shelter. He is the pardoner of all our offenses.
How blessed we are to serve the God of mercy! (If you are serving?)
Father, we thank You for Your character—for Your love, Your compassion, Your mercy, Your forgiveness, Your righteousness, and Your power. Oh Lord, we love You. Draw us and guide us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
