WISDOM FOR TODAY
Trapped
TRAPPED
Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord… For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” —Exodus 14:13-14
The children of Israel had left the bondage in Egypt, their miserable life of slavery, and were determined now to serve the Lord. But the very first place that God leads them is into a trap. There is no way out of this valley but to turn around. They can’t cross over the mountains on either side, and they can’t go through the Red Sea.
Why would God lead His people into a trap?
*GOD WANTS US TO LEARN TO TRUST IN HIM COMPLETELY— EVEN WHEN WE CANNOT SEE ANY POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS.
He wants us to realize that He is able to make a way even when there is no way; that He is not limited by man’s resources or by man’s capacities; and what He has promised, He is able to perform.
God’s plan of deliverance requires faith. When you find yourself trapped and you can’t see any way out, the natural tendency is to run. But if we step out in faith, God will go before us and make a path through the sea.
You may be feeling trapped. Maybe you are in circumstances where you can’t see any way out. But maybe God has led you into a trap just so that you would turn to Him today.
Oh, Lord, how we thank You for Your deliverance. So often You have parted that sea of difficulty or removed the mountains for us. Help us not to fear but to trust. In Jesus’ name, amen.
