WISDOM FOR TODAY
The Wrong Way
The Wrong Way
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. —Proverbs 14: 12
Ultimately, there are only two destinations in life. You are either on the path that leads you to heaven or you are on the path that leads you to hell.
In speaking of those two paths, Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it” (Matthew 7: 13).
**The wise walk purposefully.
The wise look ahead and set goals for their lives— things they hope to achieve by the time they reach the end of their life’s path. They think ahead to the moment they will stand before Jesus. They walk to win the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25: 21).
The foolish, however, walk aimlessly. Believing Satan’s lie that “all roads ultimately lead to God,” they ignore the warnings along the path. All roads do not lead to the true and living God. Some roads lead to death— and eternal separation from the one true God.
Take a look at your life. Examine the path below your feet. Have you chosen the path that leads to Jesus? And what are you trusting to determine this— the word of man, or the Word of God?
Father, we ask that Your Holy Spirit would guide us in the path of life that leads to Your abode. We’re so thankful, Lord, that Your Son cleared a way for us— a road that leads straight to You. May we walk in His way, in His truth, and in His light. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
