The Secret to Success
The Secret to Success [King Uzziah] sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper. —2 Chronicles 26: 5
The secret to a good life is seeking the Lord. Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6: 33). In other words, you take care of your relationship with God and He will take care of everything else.
King Uzziah focused upon his relationship with God, and he sought the Lord in the days of Zechariah who had understanding in the visions of God. This would indicate that Zechariah acted as a spiritual model for him. And indeed, as long as Zechariah was living, Uzziah sought the Lord. And as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.
**The moment I quit seeking God, I am as weak as other men.
However, prosperity often brings danger. Sometimes you begin to think your success is due to your own skill and genius, and leave God out of your life. As Uzziah looked at the strength and wealth of his kingdom, his heart became lifted up. We read in verse 16, “But when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction.”
***I must always remember that the secret of my strength is my relationship with God.
Lord, help us not to fight with You. Help us to be sensitive and open to the voice of Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
