WISDOM FOR TODAY
The Rock
The Rock
For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. Now these things became our examples… —1 Corinthians 10: 4, 6 The God who brought water from the smitten rock for the thirsty children of Israel is the same God who brought life for us through the body of His smitten Son. The miraculous provision of water they experienced was but a foreshadowing of the miraculous provision of righteousness we have experienced.
**Nothing satisfies man’s deep thirst for God except a meaningful relationship with God.
Paul declares, “That Rock was Christ.” Jesus spoke of the water of life He would give to those who thirst. In John 4, Jesus told the Samaritan woman, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4: 13-14).
Those who try to quench that thirst with anything else will find that they continue to thirst. But when you go to the Rock, who is Christ, the water He gives you not only satisfies, it overflows like a well of living water.
Are you thirsty today? All you have to do is speak to the Rock. He will cause the water of life to flow forth to you. He will open the floodgates and satisfy your thirst.
Father, we thank You for Jesus Christ, the Rock of ages who was smitten for us. Keep us from going to any other source when we are thirsty. Help us to bring our thirst to You, that we might drink freely and fully and find the satisfaction we long for. In Jesus’ name, amen.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. —Romans 12: 1 In writing to the church at Corinth, Paul made a point to tell them to be careful about what they do with their bodies. “Do…
