The Message
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son… —Hebrews 1: 1-2
God has been speaking to man from the beginning of time. He speaks through nature, through His prophets, through His Word, through visions, and through dreams. He speaks through the still small, inner voice. Sometimes He speaks in an audible voice. God is still speaking to us; the problem is that we do not always listen.
In the Bible, we see that man distorted God’s messages by trying to interpret His laws in their own way. Man had become so confused, they no longer knew the truth about God. So God sent His Son into the world to reveal the truth to man.
**God is still speaking today. Listen.
What is the basic message God gave us through His Son? First of all, Jesus taught us that God is love. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” He taught that God is merciful, gracious, compassionate, and forgiving. He taught that God is light. Jesus also taught that God wants us to love one another, even as He loves us.
May we hear God’s voice clearly as He speaks to us about life, love, our relationship to Him, and our relationships with one another. May God help us to really listen. May we obey His voice and love others as He would have us to love.
God, give us an ear to hear what You are saying to us through Your Word and Your Holy Spirit. In His name, amen.
