WISDOM FOR TODAY
The Lord Be With You
The Lord Be with You
Now, my son, may the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you. —1 Chronicles 22: 11
As Solomon begins the task of building this magnificent temple for the Lord, his father encourages him. And the first thing David says is, “The Lord be with you.” That is significant. Over the years, the church has endeavored to do the work of God with the wisdom of man. Man’s desire to be independent of God is a common desire but should never be exercised within the church. We need the Lord to be with us in every undertaking. It isn’t enough just to know what God wants done. It is important that we know how God wants it done.
**No work we undertake will be of any value unless the Lord is with us.
I don’t know what God is calling you to do. But as you look at that ministry or that task, you may feel dismayed. You may be saying, “I could never do that, Lord. Surely You’ve got the wrong person.” Remember Moses, who said, “Lord, I can’t talk very well. I stutter and stammer and the people won’t pay attention to what I have to say.” What was the Lord’s answer? “I’ll be with you.” That’s all it takes. God’s answer is always, “I will be with you.” His presence will go before you. And when God guides, God provides all the wisdom, all the direction, all that you need to fulfill the calling He places upon your heart.
Lord, how thankful we are that Your presence is with us. We depend upon that. We know, Lord, that without You, we can do nothing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
