The Chosen
The Chosen
“You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.” Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? —Amos 3: 2-3
God chose Israel—not because they were good, or powerful. He chose them simply because He loves them. And it is through the nation of Israel that God chose to bring the Savior into the world. Like Israel, we too have been chosen not because of our own goodness or because we have something God needs. God chose us because He loves us and wants fellowship with us.
**Fellowship implies unity.
In order to have fellowship with God, you must be in agreement with God. That means you must follow the rules He has established. We are in no position to strike deals with the Lord: “You do this for me and I will do this for You.” We are helpless sinners who stand bankrupt before God. And He looks on us with compassion and says, “I choose you.” Being the chosen people of God creates a great responsibility. We know His ways. We know His requirements. We walk in the light and have understanding of His Word; therefore, we will be judged by a higher standard.
If we choose to sin, God will chastise us because we are His. What a blessing it is to be loved by God, chosen by God, and forgiven by God. Let’s walk together in unity with Him and display His majesty to a world that does not know Him yet.
Father, how thankful we are to be Yours. May we never veer from the truth, but may we walk with You in obedience. In Jesus’ name, amen.
