WISDOM FOR TODAY
Sufficient Power
Sufficient Power – a daily devotional
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” —Matthew 28: 18
The same Jesus who had the power to bring the universe into existence, and the power to forgive sins, and the power to cast out demons, and the power to uphold all things by His Word (Hebrews 1: 3), is the same Jesus who told His disciples—and us—to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28: 19).
It would seem that since we are weak, and since Jesus has all that power, perhaps He should be the one to go. But He also said, “Lo, I am with you always” (Matthew 28: 20). So when He sends us off to carry out the Great Commission, He is really saying, “You go, and I will be with you.”
**Oh, that you only knew the exceeding greatness of the power that God has made available to you!
You don’t have to be bound by the desires of your flesh. You don’t have to live in defeat. You don’t have to live in bondage. All the power in the universe is available for you through Jesus Christ—sufficient power for any and every emergency. Whatever power you need to fulfill His calling, to be perfected in His image, to be all God wants you to be, is yours today through Jesus.
Father, may we know the exceeding greatness of Your power to us who have come to believe in Jesus Christ. May we go forth in Your name, empowered by Your Holy Spirit to carry the gospel into the needy world around us. Amen.
PS Yesterday I found out 3 of my friends have been diagnosed with cancer. Please pray for Ben, Barb and Linda. All are devote Christians. I Praise the Lord that they each have faith.
