WISDOM FOR TODAY

Pride

PRIDE
Because…its heart was lifted up in its height, therefore I will deliver it into the hand of the mighty one of the nations, and he shall surely deal with it; I have driven it out for its wickedness. —Ezekiel 31:10-11
It was God who planted Assyria by the water so that their roots could get plenty of nourishment. It was God who had made them great and beautiful, but they began to take credit for their power, boasting in what they had done.
**Taking credit for what God has done is always a dangerous thing.
Too often, men who have been used by God or who have been specially gifted by God begin to look at their accomplishments as though they were somehow responsible for their success. They begin to take glory that really belongs to the Lord. But God said that He will allow no flesh to glory in His sight. The one who exalts himself will be brought low.
A greatly successful ministry can pose a danger, because people suddenly want to learn your secrets. The temptation is to point to the things God has done as though we ourselves had devised them.
Anything we have that is good or valuable has been given by God. It is God who has given us strength, talents, and understanding. We must give credit to God for those things that He has done. To God be the glory; great things He has done!
Father, may we acknowledge You as the giver of life and of strength. May we continually give You the glory You so richly deserve. In Jesus’ name, amen.
