WISDOM FOR TODAY
No Worries
NO WORRIES
Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? —Matthew 6:25
Faith and worry are mutually exclusive. If you have real faith in the providence and care of God, you will not worry over your circumstances. Any worry you have demonstrates a lack of faith.
Because of your faith in Jesus Christ, you are now a child of God. Knowing that He is your heavenly Father should dispel any concern over the issues of life. Your Father knows that you need food and clothes, so you don’t have to worry about it. Jesus taught us that our Father loves us so much, He even watches over the trivial details of our lives, and knows our needs before we are aware of them.
It is a matter of priority. What are you putting first—food and clothing? If so, you are no better off than the heathen. But if you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, then God will take care of the other things.
**Don’t put the wrong things at the top of your priority list.
Those who waste their lives pursuing non-productive, temporal things have nothing eternally to show for their lives when they get to the end of the road. Therefore, let a man examine himself. Look at your own heart—and determine to put God first.
Father, help us to give You the place of highest priority in our lives. Forgive us, Lord, for the time we spend thinking about physical things that will pass away. In Jesus’ name, amen.
YBIC, Dan Shock CBMC of Tampa Bay PS My ole Pastor Viv used to use Matt 6:33 in answering 90% of my life’s problem. Seek first the kingdom of God and then let God GIVE you all your desires after all your one of His sons, right? Viv taught me the prime directive in this Christian life: Your relationship with Jesus is paramount in all matters and until you apply this: you will struggle….how? The next time you face a dilemma use the filter question: How is this (decision or problem) going to help me Grow closer to Jesus or further God’s kingdom? Quite a mindset!
