More Than We Ask
More Than We Ask
And the Lord said to him: “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built to put My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.” —1 Kings 9: 3
The God who created this universe loves me. He thinks about me, and He hears me when I pray. Not only does He hear me, but amazingly, God answers me. He doesn’t always answer when I want Him to, however. And I get impatient. I want God to answer me and act on my behalf immediately. But often God waits because He desires to give more than what I am asking. So He waits for me to get in perfect sync with His plan.
Solomon had prayed that this house would be a place where God’s people could gather to meet God, and he asked that the eyes of the Lord be upon this place. God said, “Not only My eyes, but My heart is going to be there too.”
**God desires to give more than what we ask. Too often, people seek the eyes of God instead of the heart of God, but it is in the heart of God to bless us.
May God draw you into a more intimate fellowship than you’ve ever experienced, where not just His eyes will be upon you but His heart as well, as you seek after Him and as He reaches out to you. May you experience the touch of God’s love, power, and presence in a greater measure.
Father, we thank You for hearing us when we call. Draw us unto Yourself. May we find that place of quiet rest near to Your heart. Amen.
