Life in the Son
Life in the Son
I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.—Ecclesiastes 1: 14
Solomon lived for knowledge, pleasure, wealth, power, and fame—but at the end of his life, all that remained was frustration, emptiness, and an unsatisfied heart.
Life under the sun (apart from God) is empty. Life in the Son, however, is rich and fulfilling, because the labor you do for the Lord is never done in vain. How opposite that is from the things done for self—selfish ambitions, goals and aspirations. Not long after you have left this earth, those achievements done selfishly will be gone and forgotten.
**Only the life lived in Jesus has eternal, lasting benefit.
At the end of his life, the apostle Paul wrote, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day” (2 Timothy 4: 7-8).
“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life” (1 John 5: 11-12).
How glorious to come to the end of your days and look forward to an incorruptible, undefiled inheritance—an inheritance waiting in God’s kingdom. For the one who has lived his life in the Son, the end of the road is not emptiness, sorrow or regret. It is just the beginning.
Father, our cup runs over and we can’t contain our feelings of joy and blessing that we have experienced in our life in the Son. Thank You for Your grace towards us. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
