WISDOM FOR TODAY
His Banner of Love
His Banner of Love
He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. —Song of Solomon 2: 4
During a courtship, we usually try hard to hide the truth about ourselves, for we are afraid if the other person knew the truth, they wouldn’t love us anymore. We want them to think we are always sweet and we never get angry. Then we get married— and the truth is quite a shock.
That’s one of the wonderful things about Jesus. He knows everything there is to know about you— even things you don’t know about yourself. He sees your weaknesses and flaws, knows you backward and forward, inside out and upside down, and still He loves you. He has invited you into His banqueting house, and His banner over you is love.
What is the banner? It is God declaring to the world, “This is the one I love.”
Many times God’s love comes to me just when I have been my worst. When I have been miserable, unworthy and completely undeserving, that is when God seeks to show me just how great and how unconditional His love is for me. He does this so that I can rest in the knowledge that His love doesn’t alter from day to day.
*** In all your life, you’ve never experienced a love like the love God has for you.
God’s love seeks only your best. His love is pure enough to overcome your failures and strong enough to endure your weaknesses. God’s love is everlasting.
Father, we thank You for Your unconditional love which we have come to experience and to trust. We pray for those who have not yet given themselves to You. May
