He Is Our Peace
He Is Our Peace
The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all. —Acts 10:36
At the Lord’s bidding, Peter delivered this message to Cornelius, who was a Roman centurion…and a Gentile. Cornelius needed to hear that the gift sent to the Jews—peace through Jesus Christ—was sent also to the Gentiles.
In order to have peace within yourself—in order to calm the war inside and rid yourself of turmoil, anxiety, uncertainty, and fear—you must first have peace with God.
**Are you in need of peace today? God wants to give it to you through His Son Jesus Christ.
Is there turmoil between you and someone else? God wants to establish peace between you and your neighbors, between you and your co-workers, between you and your loved ones. But you will never find peace with your fellow man until you first establish peace between you and your God. And that peace can come only through Jesus.
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). The psalmist said, “The Lord will bless His people with peace” (Psalm 29:11).
The message of the gospel is the message of peace—the peace that passes understanding, the perfect peace that comes to that man whose mind has become fixed on the Lord because he trusts in Him.
Father, help us come to the end of ourselves so we can surrender to You and accept the peace You want to give us. In Jesus’ precious name we pray, amen.
