God Rejoices Over YOU
God Rejoices Over You
The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. —Zephaniah 3: 17
We who are parents know what it is to rejoice over our children. And God feels the same way. He rejoices with joy over those who have become His children through faith in Jesus Christ. Zephaniah tells us that God “rejoices over you with gladness.”
He then tells us that God “will quiet you with His love.” What a wonderful picture that is! The Bible tells us that God loved us so much that He laid His life down for us. The love of Jesus for us is everlasting, eternal, unchanging. Despite tribulations, trials, or hardships, His love is unmoved. Let the implications of that sink down in your heart. We need to meditate on the depth of God’s passion for us.
**When we understand our Father’s great love for us, our hearts are quieted and we rest in that truth.
Zephaniah then says that God will “rejoice over you with singing.” Can you imagine the Lord singing a love song to you, accompanied by a heavenly orchestra? Life is uncertain. There is much we do not know. But because of the Word of God, we know the only thing that matters—the Lord loves us. Let the storms rage, let the arrows fly. Come what may, we are loved.
Father, we are amazed by Your love. How we long for that day when You shall dwell in the midst of us, our mighty God, our King of kings. In Jesus’ name, amen.
