WISDOM FOR TODAY
Daily choices bring your heart into play.
Daily choices bring your heart into play. Fools listen to their hearts; wise men consult God’s word. 12 The wicked covet the catch of evil men, but the root of the righteous yields fruit. 13 The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous will come through trouble. 14 A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him. 15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise. (Proverbs 12:12-15) (Read Proverbs 12:1-28) Also (Eph. 3:16-19) In these verses in the book of Proverbs we are shown how the righteous are delivered from trouble while the wicked are snared by their transgressions. Verse 12 tells us that wicked men desire the evil man’s booty (the things that they caught in their evil net). The righteous are different, they will yield righteous fruit, because they are rooted and grounded in the love of God. (B. Miller) Proverbs 12:13-14 shows us a very important truth. Most people do not realize that the things they speak, whether positive or negative will affect their lives. We all have known some people who are habitual complainers. They are always confessing a scenario of bad things that could happen. Many of these do happen to them, because they are not walking in faith. On the other hand, people who voice a positive confession of faith in the face of their troubles, are an inspiration to others and many are granted miracles to overcome the obstacles in their lives. (B. Miller) Verse 15 tells us that we are wise if we seek the counsel of God’s Word, while a fool will think the way he looks at things is right. We must not merely speak our own opinions about things but learn to speak or confess what God’s Word has to say about that particular situation. We must confess our faith in God’s Word. We must not confess lack, as the Heavenly Father has given us everything we need. . (B. Miller) The Bible declares the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, which indicts it horribly (Jer 17:9<eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbiblia.com%2Fbible%2Fkjv1900%2FJer%252017.9&data=02%7C01%7C%7C2f3533e24204431f544408d59cabffc5%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7…>). Who can truly know the perverse nature of their heart? Not you, unless you believe the Bible. -Papa Roy wrote this devotional today- he is the elder at Calvary Chapel Merritt Island who baptized me (Dan Shock) in 1994. He has faithfully sent me a daily devotional ever since. Now 86 yrs old. What a faithful man!
