WISDOM FOR TODAY
Conquering Fear
Conquering Fear
Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish! —Esther 4:16
At Haman’s request, the king of Persia decreed that on a certain day all of the Jews within the kingdom were to be slain. No one knows Queen Esther is a Jew. Her cousin encourages her to go to her husband and plead for her people, but doing so will put her life in jeopardy.
God’s purposes will always be accomplished, regardless of what we do or don’t do. Yet He allows us to be the instruments through which He accomplishes it. Esther chose to be that instrument. She recognized that God had brought her to this very special moment, and so she conquered her fear. “Even if it costs me my life,” she said, “I will do it. If I perish, I perish.”
Jesus told us not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. Yet many Christians do worry. They worry because they haven’t yet surrendered to the will of God.
**Surrender brings freedom from fear and anxiety.
The day God vacates the throne, we are all in big trouble. But as long as God is on the throne, we don’t have to fear. After all, if we can trust the Lord for our eternal destiny, shouldn’t we be able to trust Him with tomorrow?
Lord, set Your people free from the concerns about the future. Help us trust that You will work out Your eternal purpose as we commit our ways unto You through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
PS I would appreciate prayers over our speaker today, Ed Kobel, as he shares a faithful message today online. Feel free to invite anyone who needs encouragement. See attached. Thank you!

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ. —2 Corinthians 2: 14 The word triumph is a word that presupposes conflict. As children of God, we are in constant conflict.
