Abba, Father – The authority given a SON – SONSHIP
October 10 Abba, Father
And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” —Galatians 4: 6
I am not a son of God by natural birth; I am a son of God by a new birth, being born again by His Spirit. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father'” (Romans 8: 14-15).
Abba is the Hebrew word for father, but it is more like our English word “daddy.” It has an endearing, intimate quality to it.
***We need to believe that God is our Abba, Father. We are to be His “adult” sons accurately and maturely representing Him wherever we go with all the rights and authority given an adult son to represent their family and their Father. Without shame and by faith! How? Spiritual maturity is key!
Some people profess that because God is so awesome, we should not even say His name. Others, though, get too chummy, too casual with God. They refer to Him as “The Big Daddy upstairs.” We need a balance between the two. We need to know that God is our Father, that He is our Abba. We need to understand that we can have that kind of beautiful intimacy with Him. But it is also important that we have the deepest reverence and respect for Him, that we never get to a place where we think of Him casually. May we, as His children, call upon our Abba, Father, and realize the benefits of this glorious inheritance that we have in Jesus Christ, the blessings that are ours by being a child of God.
Father, we thank You for the provision through Jesus, that we who were once orphans can now be called Your SONS. Thank You, Abba, Father, for the riches that are ours in and through Christ Jesus.
PS. We must feed on the Word of God daily to live out our calling and mature as Sons of the most high God. We must develop our prayer lives to become effectual. We must lay down sin and allow the Holy Spirit to dominate our daily decisions and guide us into fruitfulness. We must make decisions that are in keeping with who our Father is…
Glory to God! Praise the Lord! What a privilege we are given!!!

But the spiritual world has…

Victory in Christ Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ. —2 Corinthians 2:14 The word triumph is a word that presupposes conflict.
